Schriften – Eilfter Band (1830) by Karl von Eckartshausen is an original early nineteenth-century Austrian edition of the writings of one of the most influential German mystical philosophers of the late Enlightenment.

This volume contains “Klugheit, vereint mit Tugend, oder Die Politik des Weisen für gute Menschen” (Part I), a philosophical work exploring wisdom, virtue, morality and the principles of good conduct.

Karl von Eckartshausen (1752–1803) became highly influential among later Christian mystical and esoteric movements, particularly through works such as The Cloud Upon the Sanctuary. His writings combined Christian spirituality, philosophy and ideas concerning inner transformation, making original editions sought after by collectors of mysticism, philosophy and Western esoteric history.

This scarce Vienna printing preserves its original publisher’s printed paper wrappers, decorative printed spine, engraved frontispiece, complete title pages, untrimmed period paper and an early handwritten ownership signature.
