occult grimoire, ceremonial magic, demonology
Codex Aversum by Caine Del Sol presents the theory and practice of Vedantic Nihilism, an eclectic magical system developed through devotional practice, divination and communion with archetypal entities. Drawing together elements associated with Hindu ontology, Semitic mysticism, Voodoo trance practice, alchemy, Gnosticism and Vajrayana Buddhism, the work explores an intentionally decontextualised approach to the divine.
At the heart of the Codex is the pursuit of transcendence through the dissolution of fixed assumptions surrounding the Self, the divine and conventional religious structures. The text examines devotion, magickal practice, consciousness and the nature of the Void, while presenting a system intended to guide practitioners towards direct engagement with its spiritual and archetypal framework.
The work documents 81 individual entities, divided into a Higher Order of nine spirits and 72 Lower spirits arranged beneath them. Alongside detailed discussions of these entities, the Codex presents sigils, magical formulae and ritual practices, including rites concerned with necromanteion, possession and death gnosis.
For collectors of contemporary occult literature, Codex Aversum is particularly notable for its highly limited Devotee Edition. Only 13 exemplars were produced, with each volume individually constructed using full goatskin leather, hand-marbled papers and a custom-made Solander clamshell box. This is an unusually scarce presentation of a modern occult grimoire, suited to collectors of specialised magical literature and practitioners interested in experimental approaches to ceremonial magic and demonology.
