Drawing upon the Arab-to-Latin transmission of magical knowledge, this unusual grimoire presents a distinctive approach to celestial and talismanic practice.

The text describes forty rings and related charms associated with the twenty-eight Mansions of the Moon. Unlike many other traditions of magical rings, the operations presented here are largely concerned with the creation of illusions, while the spirits involved in the making and activation of the rings appear to be unique to this work.

Attributed to Peter of Abano, one of the most significant figures associated with the medieval grimoire tradition, the text is accompanied by an introduction from Regulus Hess examining the historical context of the work and the question of Peter of Abano’s authorship. The volume also includes a translation of the Anelli di Pietro d’Abano, a rare vernacular tract connected with the Annulorum Experimenta.

For this edition, all six known manuscripts have been consulted to create the most complete presentation of the text. Latin and English versions are provided alongside an appendix containing the various known forms of the seals. A further appendix presents extracts from the Picatrix, offering additional context for readers interested in exploring the celestial and talismanic principles behind the material.

A significant resource for students of medieval magic, practitioners of magical rings and collectors of historical grimoires, this edition provides access to an unusual and comparatively obscure branch of European magical literature.

Premium Production Details

Author: Peter of Abano

Editor & Translator: Regulus Hess

Publisher: Hadean Press

Binding: Hardcover

Pages: 136

ISBN: 978-1-915933-44-7

Paper: 80gsm cream paper

Binding Material: Black Wibalin buckram cloth

Head & Tail Bands: Cream

Endpapers: Printed marbled endpapers

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1047/8420/0021/files/rn-image_picker_lib_temp_e10a3670-90ba-4938-8735-7c3603ee2630.jpg?v=1788554301
